Japanese movie, “Norwegian Wood” directed by Tran Anh Hung won for Best Musical Composition at the 7th Dubai International Film Festival which was held in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. On hearing the news, actor Matsuyama Kenichi who was the lead in the film said one thing, “Jonny-san, banzai!”
Director Tran invited Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood to compose its score. The soundtrack is filled with a variety of guitar solos, chamber music, and electronica orchestra that were used for different purposes. The movie is also based off of Murakami Haruki’s best selling novel of the same name, so there was also this extra burden of living up to everyone’s expectations.
Norwegian Wood opened in theaters in Japan on 12/11.
